Walking, Camping, Hiking - Oh my!

What a week!! 

We shared last Saturday that October 1st through 7th marked National Walk Your Dog Week.  Boy, did the humans make good on that.  We walked everyday last week except for yesterday - at that point we were all too tired to think straight let alone walk anywhere.

We celebrated our small two legger, Isaac's, 9th birthday yesterday.  As part of the celebration, Isaac requested to go camping. 

So off we went - four two legged kiddos, five golden retrievers, oh and mom and dad too.  (Yes, anyone willing to primitive camp with four kids and five dogs might be considered slightly insane, but as the humans say, "If the shoe fits....")

What a fabulous adventure we had!

We had a grand time and can't wait to go back!

But first we have some napping to do.

Bringing In 2010

2010 has started off with a bang for Agape Pet Therapy. We have been busy working with Jasmine and Pillow. Pillow is a Golden Retriever puppy we are working to train for her owner. (She is also the sister of our very own, Rose Bud.) We hope to have her CGC tested before long and reunited with her family. Here's a picture of Connor working with Pillow.

Jasmine is coming right along with her service dog training. She has calmed down a lot since coming to us from Brookhaven Animal Rescue League. We were able to take Jasmine a couple of weeks ago to meet with the young lady that she is being trained for. They hit it off famously and are hopefully going to work out really well for one another. This is a picture of Jasmine in an outfit that her future owner bought for her. Isn't she precious!

Last week APT participated in National Dress Your Pet Day. Yes, there really is a day set aside for such a thing. We decked the dogs out and headed to the nursing home with them. The residents loved the pups with their clothes on. We'll have to do this again soon!

Did you know that January is National Walk Your Pet Month? I didn't, but I do plan to make the most of this knowledge with what we have left of January. Walking your dog is the key to a healthy, balanced pet. Just about all behavioral issues in any dog can be solved by giving the animal an appropriate amount of exercise.
