Boon's Sunday Sermons - #1

So last night mom and I had a pow-wow.  We were considering the blog and the natural course it has taken.  We realized that we have been leaving a chief element of who we are out of The Love Shack Pack blog - our faith.

Now before you turn up your nose and high-tail it in the opposite direction, let me assure you that you are not going to be "preached at" here - rather encouraged and hopefully inspired.  We aren't here to judge you - just to share how the love of God has changed our lives for the better.

For today's first message, I'd like to share a piece Mom wrote many moons ago about a dog that she once had.  Enjoy and be blessed.

"Bella Rose"
Living Loved

My little Cocker Spaniel, Bella Rose, was also scheduled to be spayed. This had been yet another cause of concern for me. Bella Rose is extremely afraid of people. Anyone who does not live in our house is a threat to her. I was worried about how she would react with me leaving her with strangers. I was worried about how she would react when they tried to kennel her or reach in the kennel to retrieve her.

When we pulled up to the vet's office there was a sign on the door stating they'd be back soon. It provided me a perfect opportunity to read the latest book that has caught my attention: He Loves Me by Wayne Jacobsen. I had just finished a chapter about trusting God and how His love for us drives out all fear when the vet returned.

Two other people had pulled up while I was waiting. As we all piled out of our cars, Bella Rose became nervous. When she saw the other people and their dogs, she began pulling against the leash. I decided it best to sit outside with her and let the office clear out before taking her inside. It was a good choice.

My fears were not to be unfounded. As the folks came and went walking past her but never coming near her, she ran the full extent that her leash attached to my hand would allow her to go... or as she saw it "as far from danger as possible." I tried to comfort her to no avail. I spoke softly promising I would allow no one to hurt her. Had she trusted me, she could have calmed down and not worried. Had she realized the extent of my love for her, it would have driven out her fear.
It clicked. God was telling me the same thing. He spoke softly to my heart promising His protection and covering over me. He told me that He knows the plans He has for me: to prosper me, to give me a future and a hope! He promised that He was going to work all things together for my good because I love Him.
And it proved true. Perfect love casts out all fear. I am able to walk through the day in peace even in the things that remain unknown because I have cast my cares on my Lord knowing He cares for me! I am refreshed. I am resting in His arms and in His love.
1 John 4:18 - There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
