A Little Bit of This and A Little Bit of That

Wowsers!  Things sure have been busy around The Love Shack lately - mostly cause the human kids started back to school.  Only they don't "go" to school.  They do school here at home at The Love Shack.  Mom and Dad are their teachers but sometimes we doggies help out too.

Next week Scarlet gets to go to the big school up the road for the kids to read to her.  She's so lucky.  I can't wait to take my TDI test where I can go all the time too.  Mom was real excited when a package arrived from Oliver, Tanner, and Carrie at All Things Dog Blog.  It's just what we needed for our homeschool and for the Tail Waggin' Tutors program.  Thanks, y'all!!!

Our bestest, bloggie, buddy, Bert shared this award with us.  Bert is a special boy that lives close to Heaven we think - at least it looks that way from most of the pictures His Vicky shares.  Bert is a Search and Rescue dog and a Therapy Dog.  He always knows how to have a good time, and he and His Vicky live life to the fullest.  We LOVE their blog!!! Thanks, Bertie boy.  We wuf vu!!

#2 - Seven Random Facts About Yours Truly
1.  I am the most handsome dog in our pack.  Oh wait, these are suppose to be facts - not opinions. But in my opinion, it is a fact.  I guess it works!
2.  I am very smart.  And humble.
3.  I was the last puppy left in my litter.  Those other folks don't know what they missed out on, but I suppose God saved the best for last and for my Mom!
4.  I like to eat un-used toilet paper.
5.  I sometimes try to eat the kitty when Mom's not looking.
6.  I love getting dirty.
7.  I like barking - often - and randomly.

This is always the hard part for us cause seriously, if we didn't like your blog, we wouldn't waste our time visiting it.  So you guys look through my blog list on the right and go visit someone new.  They are all good, fun critters - honestly!  (Again, if they weren't they wouldn't be there.)  And for y'all listed in the blog list, you are obviously irresistibly sweet, so considered yourself tagged.


Then today we were gifted the Noteworthy Archives Award from Stella over at Just Ramblin'. 

Stella is a Newfoundland puppy just a bit older than me.  She's enjoying life and her human has some interesting points of view along the way.  Go visit 'em!!  You'll be glad you did!

We have been receiving lots of pictures for the Labor Day Back to School Bash first ever PAWM.  (That's dog for "prom" for you two-leggers that don't fully appreciate the workings of the canine mind.)  It's going to be a fabulous event, dahling.  Don't miss out!  Some dogs are going all out - dates and corsages included - while others are prancing about in the good furs God gave 'em.  It don't matter, dawg!  Just be there!!  AROOOF!  Send those pics (and any questions) to our mom at agapepuppylove@gmail.com .  Oh, and if you want your pic linked to your site, please include that URL too.

Therapy Dog in Training

As part of my training to be a therapy dog, I have been allowed to tag along with my K9 big, sister Scarlet on some of her outings. Scarlet is a TDI therapy dog and really loves people.

Here's Scarlet and Momma at the library last summer.

The first time I got to go with her was to a nursing home.  There were lots of people in wheelchairs and scooters.  There were also lots of new and strange smells.  I wasn't too sure about all of it and for the life of me, I could not understand why all these strangers wanted to wipe their hands off on me!

A week went by after that visit and I found myself back in the same place.  After lots of encouragement from Scarlet and Momma, I became excited.  I really wanted to give love to these people who needed me.  It felt good to have a purpose and this time it felt good when they ran their hands through my fur.  I wasn't scared at all. 

Yesterday I got to go visit again, but this time to a new place filled with kids!  (I really like two-legged, short people.)  Mom explained that my job was to lie still while the children took turns reading to me.  It sounded easy enough. 

As kids walked past me they all "oohed and ahhed" at me.  It was ok cause I like the attention.  Then I got to meet Michael!  He walked me on the leash for a bit.  I took the leash from him to show him I could walk myself.  He laughed.  I threw my body against the floor and wiggled and danced while Michael continue giggling at me.  I knew this was going to work great.  Then it was time to read.  I did just as Mom had said and was still and quiet while I helped him sound the words out that he read from the page.  He did a really good job!  He read me a story about a yellow dog named Marley.  Now that's a pooch who really knows how to have fun!!

Momma says I have a very bright future in store.  She's right, of course!

I liked it when Michael showed me the pictures.

Scarlet watched over me to make sure I did everything just right.
