Boon's Sunday Sermon #29 - Cares

Doberman mom and puppies I photographed this week.
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.  1 Peter 5:7.

On Wednesday, my 19 year old step-son was diagnosed with stage three Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  A very dear friend is having health difficulties that threaten her life.  And today as my husband and I attended church with our children, my daughter's best friend, Emily, who had joined us, suffered two seizures.

All of life's uncertainties serve to remind us that no matter how "in control" we might feel, we really have no power over the things that can change our lives most.  As a believer though, I am reminded that we do not have to carry the weight of the problems we face.  We have the option to give them to God.  He is never surprised or caught off guard by the severity of the problems we face.  He promises to care for us to carry our burdens, but we have to be willing to let go and let Him.

He says,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

My answer is, "Yes, Lord, Yes."

How about you?

  1. We are so sorry to hear about your stepson - we hope his cancer can be helped. So young to have to face such a challenge. But we know he has his faith and his loving family to help him through this.

  2. Our prayers go out to your step son. Life can be difficult and heavy. But MOM and I know from personal experience that the load can be lighter when we have allowed God help us carry the burden.

  4. News like this also reminds us to take a renewed look at our priorities. Such a good verse that we so often forget. We do need to cast our anxiety.

Prayers for your step-son and for the other loved ones with health problems.
