Boon's Sunday Sermon #20 - 2012 Year of the Dog

“This is what the LORD says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” Isaiah 43:16, 18-19 NIV

Being in the moment is being in the present and that is virtually being in tune with the Creator who is Presence and Present personified. Being in the moment makes certain that you are not tormented by the past or burdened by the future. It is the way to sanity, health and, most of all, peace. - unknown author

As you move out of 2011 and into 2012 instead of making a list of resolutions that won't be kept past the second week of January, why not resolve to live life more like a dog.

Dogs don't dwell on the past and they don't worry about the future.  They live in the moment - in the right now  and they live it to the fullest.

Jesus said in John 10:10, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

He did not live and die so that we could have the ordinary or to just get us to the other side.  He intended for us to enjoy life NOW.

So regardless of what your past holds - abuse, rejection, loneliness, frustration, bad habits, bad memories, or bad situations - that does not have to dictate your present or your future.

Philippians 3:13,14 says, "I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Declare with us that 2012 is the Year of the Dog - and forget what is behind and press on towards what is ahead in joyful expectation - just like our canine friends do each and every moment of each and every day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, FRIENDS!!
