Ball Obsessed

I know that being a Golden Retriever I am suppose to enjoy 'retrieving'.  A yellow ball is suppose to be a source of great joy for me.  Yet I do not get the whole 'fetch' thing.  I prefer to stand near mom and beg for treats rather than to work for them doing a job that serves no real purpose.  Scarlet on the other hand lives to run after tennis balls.  She can go for as long as the human's arms hold out - probably much longer, but you know how easy those humans wear down.  Don't get me wrong.  There are times that I'll give the ball a chase to provide the two-leggers with a bit of excitement.  I'm nothing like Scarlet though.
That dog is obsessed!

"THROW THE BALL!"

"Gotta get the ball!"

"Almost"

"GOTCHA!"

"I believe I can fly..."

"There you are.  You can't hide from me!"
"Ok, I picked it up.  Now what?"
"Here I come."

THE END.

Come back by tomorrow for my Sunday Sermon, y'all!!

  1. That looks like a pretty great retrieve to me. Our Norbert likes to chase the ball, but he is not into the retrieve. In his mind we get it and through it again.

  2. That's a very respectable retrieve! I like the air you're getting there! Finn loves to retrieve the ball she loves to poke holes in the balls also. Flattens them out in no time!

  4. I am half Lab and half Border Collie, and if my Mom throws a ball I will go get it once, twice, maybe three times, but that is the limit!

If a person wants a ball, they should just keep it, never mind throwing it!

  9. Have they tried throwing you a rolled up dirty sock? That's way more fun than retrieving a ball :)

  11. I'm not much of a ball-player either. But I do like my squeaky toy, and if Jen tosses it to me I'll catch it over and over again. DeDe used to play ball but now she's decided that she's too cool for chasing balls. Poor Jen- she has nobody to play with!

  12. Hey Boondocks!
Wow, I agree. Fetching small balls is no great treat to me. I like big, soccer-type balls that I roll around. Maybe try that instead. My peeps used to have a retriever that only chased the shadows of flying balls...talk about funny! As soon as the ball hit the ground, no shadow, no fun! BOL Great action pix of Scarlett!

  15. I am a bit behind. Adorable pictures. You know some dogs are just born with the desire to fetch and other aren't.

Our Storm lives to fetch. :)
