Boondocks

Sometimes a picture really is worth a thousand words, huh?  Well, my life with my new family started with this picture.

You see my mom was surfing the internet like any other day when she stumbled upon the website: Golden Miracles.  Mom is always looking at Golden Retriever sites but usually doesn't have an overwhelming impulse to "go get that puppy".  When she saw me, she couldn't help herself.

Mom had been wanting a new puppy to train to follow in the paw-prints of my big sister, Scarlet.  Scarlet is a TDI therapy dog and just turned seven earlier this month.  However, she'd planned to wait another year or so before getting a new puppy.  But then she saw me.

A phone call was quickly made and my "soon to be" family hopped in the car a few minutes later to make the hundred mile trek to "check me out".  They arrived.  I knew my moment had come.  I strutted my stuff in true "prancer" fashion.  Hook, line, and sinker.  I rode the entire trip home in mom's lap.

Home.  My home.  My family.  I am part of a family.  My dreams were all coming true.

There is more to the story than that though.  Just further proof that God cares about ALL living things, including me!

A couple of days after coming home Mom found out that the lady who bred me had prayed specifically that I would one day become a therapy dog.  She had seen my potential from birth.  She knew I was special and meant to fulfill a specific purpose.  And now God had brought things full circle and sent me to a home where I would be trained to do exactly what my first human mom wanted for me.

This life thing is pretty exciting.  I can't wait to see what will happen next!

  3. Isn't it funny how sometimes we can pray for things to happen and then when they do...we are almost shocked! Like..."how did that happen?" Or, maybe we hear the tune of "Twilight Zone" playing in our head. I'd like to take credit for breeding and raising the most amazing pups but all credit goes to the One up above who not only hears the prayers of us who speaks "human" but also those who speak "canine." May God bless you with His Golden Miracles every day, Boondocks! Signed...your first mommy (Susie) and second mommy (Nola)
